TAR SEALING.

progress of works. ' ; IN PLAINS COUNTY. Tai’ sealing in the Hauraki Plains County is proceeding at a very creditable rate. At present gangs of workmen are employed at various points on formation and sealing operations, and the new surface is beginning to take very definite shape. AL though only the priming coat has been laid over the greater portion of the piece, which it is intended to seal permanently, motorists already find it an unquestioned improvement. At Ngatea, on the township road, the surface is being built up and widened with spoil from a large neap of debris just across the bridge.. Formation work is still proceeding on the Ngatca-Kercpeehi Road, and considerable improvements have been effected at the two bends, which were recently given a new alignment. On Pekapeka Road the surface is ready* for the second coat, while on the stretch of road at Netherton, iiom . the ferry to the factory, is being widened and strengthened and the potholes filled in. The hub of all these activities is at the landing near the Netherton ferry. Here is discharged from the scows the greatest proportion of metal at present being used for the sealing work,, together with countless barrels of tar. A gang of men are employed filling lorries with metal and despatching the tar to various points along the route.
