From London came details of a pretty wedding solemnised on September 19th at St. Gabriel’s Church, Warwick Square, London S.W., between Kathleen ' Methven, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Mules, of Turua, and the Rev. George Rae Monteith, late acting vicar of the Hauraki Plains, and youngest son of Mrs E Monteith, of Auckland, and the late John Hodge Monteith, of

Hawke’s Bay. Rev. Monteith relinquished his position of Vicar of the Hauraki Plains about twelve months ago. later going to England and taking up duties at St. Gabriel’s Church. His bride left for England in August, and just two months ago their wedding took place in the church where the Rev. Monteith first served after leaving New Zealand. The congregation at the ceremony consisted of the many friends of the bridegroom, made during his short sojourn in St. Gabriel’s parish. The service, at which a full choir attended, was conducted by the Rev. Walter J. B. Scott, assisted by the Rev. Claude Hyde (a former New Zealander). The church was beautifully decorated with white chrysanthemums. The organist did full justice to the occasion with appropriate music. The bride, who was given away by her aunt, Mrs F. Waghorn, of Bexhill, Sussex, looked charming in a frock of ivory satin beaute, with an embroidered veil to form a train. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and lillies of the valley. She was attended by her cousin, Miss Elsie Clarke as bridesmaid, in blue floral georgette, and Miss Betty Hall as flower girl, in lemon voile. Their escort up the aisle was Mr C. E. Hale. The best man was Rev. C. Truman (late of New Zealand). , The reception which followed was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs C. E. Hall, and after a very happy gathering the bridal pair departed for their honeymoon at Canterbury and Stratford-on-Avon, the bride having donned a brown cloth ensemble, with a high fur collar and cuffs, and a brown felt hat to match. Mr Monteith will reside at Stoke-on-Trent, where the former is to take up his clerical duties.
