CHILDREN’S BALL.

SUCCESSFUL PAEROA FUNCTION Children of Paeroa spent a wonderful time last evening, when the Paeroa Women’s Institute, in conjunction with the pupils of the Paeroa District a High School, held a children’s fancy b dress ball in the Gaiety Theatre to 1 raise funds for the school dental clinic and for the school sports fund, t There were nearly 100 children in fancy dress, besides a big number in e plain clothes, and all were in the 1 highest of spirits. The hall was c beautifully decorated' with streamers * and ferns, so that with the bright col- I oured frocks a pretty picture was formed. From the grand march at .8 p.m., 2 till their supper was served, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. To facilitate the judging of the fancy dresses the children were divided into four sections. Before presenting the, prizes, Mi’ C. Mettam,- Chairman of the Paeroa District High School Committee, thanked the Women’s Institute for organising : such a successful function; Mr J. 1 Rooney and his orchestra for provid- < nig the music; Mr P. Jennings for i reducing the rental of the theatre; ; the High School girls, for providing and assisting with the supper; and 1 the judges, Mesdames E. P. Fathers, W. Little, and A. J. Andrews, whose task had been a difficult one. Mr Mettam, assisted by Mr E. G. . Preston, then presented, the prizes, the winners being as follows: — The Prize-winners.
