HIGH PRAISE.
FROM HARD-BOILED AUTHOR. During the making of “ Seed ” ai Universal studio Bette Davis, who plays the role of the grown-up daughter of John ■ Boles and Lois Wilson, was much surprised and pleased to receive a compliment from what she supposed was a casual visitor on the set who stopped her with the following remark: “Young lady, you have just made a hard-boiled author weep with your marvellous acting in that •last scene.” 1 Miss Davis thanked him, but did not realise the full significance of the occurrence until the director informed her that the ‘ author ” was none other than the man who wrote the novel “ Seed ” from which the screen play has been adapted.
