MAY RAINFALL.

LOWEST ON RECORD. A DRY SEASON. ■ The rainfall records taken at Paeroa and at Kerepeehi, show that the total for the past month was the lowest on record, since gauging was commenced. The Public Works Department’s gauge at Paeroa showed a total of 1.39 inches for the eleven days on which there were falls, and the Land Drainage Department’s gaijge at Kerepeehi recorded ten days with rain, the total being 1.61 inches. The average fall for May at Kerepeehi for the past eighteen years was 4.23 inches, and at Paeroa for the past eight years 7.43 inches. For the first five months of the present year the totals are: Paeroa, 12.53 inches; Kerepeehi, 12.46 inches.
