SOCIAL NOTES.

Mrs. R. Harris is visiting her mother, Mrs. G. Courtney, Ngatea. Miss Ray Hoffey, of the Turua School, will leave shortly to take up a position at the Wellesley Street School, Auckland. Mrs. L. G. Harvey, of Hamilton, is spending a few days with hei’ parents at “The Pines,” Netherton. Miss B. Harris, of Morrinsville, who has been spending a holiday with her grandmother, Mrs. W. Dalgety, Pipiroa, returned home on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. G. Death, of Netherton, Mr. Norman Death, of Kopuarahi, and Mrs. P. Jaspers, of Paferoa, who have been on a motoring trip through Taranaki, will return home tomorrow. Mrs. G. Clements, of Lichfield, has been staying with her sister . , and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Dalgety, Pipiroa. Mr. and Mrs. Clements left on Wednesday’to spend the rest, of their holiday in Hawera. Members of the Netherton Hall Committee held a 500 tournament last Saturday evening, when the prize winners were:—Ladies, Mrs. J. Morrison first, and Mrs. G. E. Sargent, junior, second. Gentlemen’s, Mr. T. D. Rice first, and Mr. J. Morrison, Junior, second.

TENNIS DANCE. ■i A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. A jolly little dance was held by the Paeroa Tennis Club in the Soldiers’ . Hall last night. The hall was decorated with rainbow coloured streamers’ and balloons and this, with the large log fire, made the room bright and cheery. Delightful dance music was contributed by Messrs. R. Flatt (piano), A. Clowes (violin), J. Pickford and Dixie Allison (saxaphones). Advantage was taken of this first to present the cups won last season. The President (Mr. D. G. McMillan), after giving a hearty welcome to all those present, introduced .the Patron of the Club, Mr. W. Marshall, who made the presentations and congratulated the champions, Miss V. Shand (ladies) and Mr. Harold Thorp (gentlemen). : Those present included Mrs. McMillan, black georgette; Miss M. Dean,, ivory satin beaute; Miss M. Buchanan, pink spotted net;.Mrs, H. Evans, pink crepe de chene and silver lace; Mrs. A. Steedman, black figured net; Miss A. Innis, mauve satin and lace bands; Miss N. Hayward, champagne georgette; Mrs. Fred Hubbard, cream georgette; Miss A. Nicholas, apricot shot taffeta; Miss C. Fleming, shell pink georgette and coloured.bands; Miss E. Buchanan, flesh pink georgette; Miss J. Ellis, lempn taffeta; Miss I. Halligan, pale pink net over satin;; Miss Helen Matthews, pink floral taffeta; MiSs J.
