OBITUARY.
THOMAS N. E. KENNY. Private advice was received in Paeroa yesterday, of the death in Wellington ' the previous day of one of the earliest residents of this district, in the person of Thomas Nepean Edward Kenny, in his 90th year. The late Mr. Kenny, who was born in Rangoon, came to New Zealand in 1864 to engage in sheep farming in Marlborough, having left the Imperial Forces,, with which he served in India, for that' purpose. After a few years in this occupation; he joined the. Armed Constabulary, and was. subsequently transferred to the Police Branch of that Force as Sub-Inspector at Thames. In March, 1887, he became clerk and treasurer to the Ohinemuri County which had then been incorporated only eighteen months, the first chairmafi and clerk being the late Edwin: Edwards. He continued in that office, till September, 1908, when he took up surveying, carrying on business with his sons as “Kenny and Sons.” The late Mr. Kenny, whose wife- predeceased him ■ many years ago, leaves - behind to mourn their loss six children, one son. being Mr. Thomas Kenny, of Paeroa, and two of ( the daughters being Mrs, H. Bray and Miss Alice Kenny, both , of Paeroa; Charles and Walter, who carry on 'an engineering ■ business in Auckland, and Mr. Nepean Kenny, of Wanganui. _
