THE RAINFALL.
RECORD FOR MONTH OF JUNE. The rainfall in- Paeroa'' during the month ?of June totalled 3.13 inches, against 5.70 inches in the corresponding month of last year. There were this year nineteen days on which rain fell in June, the heaviest fall being on the 20th inst., viz., 1.61 inches. The rainfall for the first six months of this year has totalled 20.22 inches, against 26.13 inches last year. HAURAKI PLAINS RAINFALL. DRYNESS OF SEASON. A total rainfall of 3.57 inches was recorded during the month of June by the Lands Drainage Department’s gauge at Kerepeehi, falls of rain having been shown on 16 days. The June total is threequarters of an inch below the June average of the past eighteen years, and the half year’s total of 19.50 inches is 1.75 inches below the half year average of the same period. c, With the exception of Friday, 20th, when 2.39 inches was recorded, all the falls during the month were light, the second heaviest being only .43 on the 9th. So far this year there have been recordings of rain on 62 days, which total is seven days below the average for the half year.
