FOOTBALL.

HAURAKI PLAINS UNION.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The Hauraki Plains Rugby Union’s management committee met at Ngatea for the purpose of making arrangements for the Thames matches on Saturday next, and for general business. Delegates present were Messrs J. Costello, C. S. Foster, H. Dent, A. McClean, H. L. Berney, F. Wallis, C. Lawrence, L. Heilwood, T. White, and the secretary, Mr W. Wylde. THAMES MATCHES. It was arranged that the senior representatives would travel to Thames by Fe.rrall’s bus, which would leave Waitakaruru at noon and Ngatea, at 1 p.m. to catch a special ferry. The players from west of Ngatea would be given dinner at Ngatea. The bus would go straight from the ferry to tile ground at Parawai, and would leave Thames on the return trip at 7 p.m., as also would the; junior team’s bus. The junior team will travel by Nicholson’s bus, leaving Ngatea a,t 11 a.m.., and have dinner at Turua. The bus will go straight from the ferry to the ground, the match being timed to start at 1.40 p-m. sharp. A practice for the seniors will be he;ld at Ngatea, to-morrow afternoon.

A letter was received from the Turua club complaining of the selection of the senior team.

The matter was discussed a,t length, and the Turua delegates were instructed to advise their club of the position in regard to the senior players..

One of the junior selectors being present and substantiating the complaint. in regard to the selection of the junior team, the matter wag referred to the three selectors for amendment. REFEREES. The Thames Union submitted the following referees for selection: Seniors, Messrs G. Buchan, J. Buchan, H. Brownlee, F. Vedder; juniors, Messrs H. Murray, Griffin, Henderson. Messrs Brownlee and Griffin were chosen. PEACE CUP MATCH. The Thames union submitted dates for the Pepce Cup and the match a,t Ngatea, but as these dates clashed with the; Thames Vallley fixtures, acceptance of the. dates was deferred until a later meeting. TURUA MATCHES. The action of the secretary in granting the; Turua club to play Hikutaia, on Saturday last was confirmed, and at the request of the Turua club delegates it was decided tha,t the Tu-rua-Kerepeehi junior match on Saturday last be not considered a cup fixture;. TEAM CONVEYANCE. Arising out of a discussion on the transportation of representative players from Ngatea to Waitakaruru and Pipiroa, on their 'return from Sway inter-union matches Mr Dent gave notice; of motion that the whole question be reconsidered at the next .meeting which will be held on Wednesday, June; 23. PLAINS NOTES. The representative team to play Thames on Saturday next will be announced at the meeting of the; Rugby union on Tuesday night. Several changes are. anticipated. The Birch Cup match at Thames will commence at 3 p.m., and the junior match for the Johnston Cup will be the curtain-raiser, comnrejicing at 1-40 p.m. The Thames Rugby Union has submitted the following referees for the Plains-Thames matches on Saturday next: Seniors, Messrs. G. Buchan, J. Buchan, H. Brownleg,, and F. Vedder ; juniors, Messrs. H. Murray, Griffin, and Henderson. The Plains senior representative for,wards, will have a practice and lecture at Ngatea on Tuesday evening.

PAEROA RUGRY UNION.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the committee of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held at Mr Bain’s rooms'on Monday evening, there being present: Messrs W. Pennell (chairman), B. L. Shaw, W. Morrison, J. Wilson, J. Rackham, J. H. Walmsley, K. Slyfield, T. P. Vuglar, and'R- Hodson. In the a.bsence of the secretary Mr Hodson was apopinted acting secrotary. A letter was received with reference. to an incident that took place after the primary school match at the domain on Saturday. The communication was referred to the Schools Union without discussion. N. Latimer wa>s registered as a senior player and allotted to the East club.

The matter of arranging for the washing and numbering of representative jerseys was left in the hands of Mr Hodson.

Mr Hodson was also authorised to purchase two pairs of trousers, to be used only in cases of emergency at representative matches. It was resolved to forward to the; Piako Union a letter expressing thanks and appreciation for the hospitality extended to the junior and third-grade teams during the. visit to Te Aroha on Saturday last. It was. decided to telegraph the N.Z. Rugby Union asking for a reply to a letter from the Paeroa Union dated May 4 in connection with the objection raised against, the ruling of a referee in the East v. Nqtherton senior match. Accounts amounting to £4 7s 6d were passed for payment. REFEREES FOR SATURDAY. The Paeroa Referees’ Association has appointed the following referees for Saturday : Mr Sheen, Netherton v. Suburbs, at Paeroa; Mr F. Pivott, East v. West, at Paeroa; Mr T. C. Arnold, Netherton v. West (juniors), at Netherton ; Mr E. G. Sal®, Karangahake v. Suburbs (juniors), at Karangahake; Mr B. Johnson, Paeroa School v. Waihi, at Paeroa.
