Farmers’ unions and chambers of commerce are charged by the Public Service Association with inspiring the publication of attacks on Government employees, and the recent annual conference of the executive of the association in Wellington discussed means of replying to criticisms. The Public Service Journal states: “The insidious campaign which had been so persistently carried on in the press, and by various organisations throughout the country against the public service was very fully and ably debated, and the executive committee was empowered to set up a publicity committee to combat, in co-operation with the various sections, similar misrepresentations v/hich may be made in future.”
