CORRESPONDENCE

(TO THE EDITOR.)

Sir, —In reply to F. Harris and “Cosmopolitan,” I should like them to answer the following questions:— (1) Are you against the Citizens’ and Ratepayers’ Association or their management of the affairs of the Borough. (2) Will you point out faults in the administration.

(3) Are you prepared to make any suggestions to the council to forward the welfare of the Borough. The council does not fear the fairness or unfairness of criticism. No member of the council desires credit for any progress made, but has to serve the community as a duty, by bad service he plays mean, by good service he is only doing his job and merits the confidence reposed in him by the electors. Under so circumstances does a council deserve diicredit for good work and that sums the attitude of the C and R Association. As with all progress “Keep the machinery clean, it will run sweetly.” Mr. Harris sounds like “Rattling the Sabre,” w'hen he challenges the people with his come one, come all etc., etc. Carry on citizens the town has a future apd with clean management there will be no fea* but that finance will be forthcoming for development, where that finance is handled with the respect it deserves and without any undue taxation on the ratepayers. Don’t let your swords get rusty for public bodies can be a regular feast for corruptionists. I consider “Another Slap” delightfully candid apart from “Shearing’s” opinion.—Yours etc., FERN LEAF.
