LEAGUE FOOTBALL

The following is the selection to play for South Auckland against the redoubtable Marist Brothers team at Hamilton to-morrow: — Fullback: C. Hill. Three-quarters: J. Whorskey, G. Rayner, G. Tittleton. Five-eighths: W. Miki, K. Peckham. Half: Abbott. Forwards: Jones( captain), Scott, Timms, Stephenson, Menzies, Laird. Reserves: R. Garry, E. Kelly, Jackways, Wm. Tittletoa.

The team is strong in front and the forwards will hold their own. In the backs Hill has been chosen as fullback. This is G. Rayner’s position (and not in the three-quarter line), for Hill has never shown representative form to be chosen for fullback position.

Abbott may be an absentee to-mor-row, and Jones will no doubt take his position if the N.Z. halfback is not available. Peckham at five-eighths cculd be improved on; but it is pleasing to see Wiri Miki in. He is one . f the best inside backs in the South Auckland area.

The Waikato reps, will have to go all out to win, and the game will be well worth seeing, for it will be Hamilton’s red letter day in Laegue football, and the proceeds go to the Sunshine Leage. A bumper gate should result and the game is under the patronage of the leading Auckland officials of the Rugby League. JUNIORS. Huntly junior reps, play the City (Auckland) juniors on the Recreation ground at 3 p.m., and this game will be preceded by the Huntly B reps, and Kia Ora (Maoris) at 1.30 p.m. The local team to play City will be:

Fullback, Williams; three-quarters, Northmcre, Baker, Braun, English (one to be dropped); five-eighths, Singer and Shanley; half, Ivan Kosoof; forwards, Lydon, Knapper, Logan, Cox, Suttie, Shaw.
