CORRESPONDENCE
(TO THE EDITOR.) Sir, —Some time ago at the annual meeting of the Central Electric Power Board it was suggested to reduce 'he minimum also eliminate the meter rent. The Central Electric Power Board is on velvet as far as Huntly Pukemiro and surrounding districts are concerned. Why should we pay five shillings per month if we use no lights, and the Board made profits to the sum of £2,500 last year? Also, we are paying two-pence and threepence more per unit than the public of Hamilton and Ngaruawahia. Last week at a conference held in Wellington the various power boards were asking protection from the Government to invest their profits in giltedged security, which has been made "in the Huntly district, and they failed to deliver the goods. Trusting this matter will be taken up in the near future through our various miners’ unions by a more pen than mine and stop this unjust charging by the Board before the daylight saving comes in and we still have to pay for the goods we do not receive.—Yours, etc., J. BINCHAM, Huntly West.
