CORRUPT PRACTICE DISQUALIFIED FOR LIFE (Per Press Association—Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, December 10. Found guilty of a corrupt practice —namely the offering of money to the rider of another horse in a race in which his own liorse, Nigger Boy, was engaged (the last race of the Cup Meeting, at Riccarton), Benjamin Nausbaum, of Palmerston North, was ,to-day idisquaDfie-d for life by the (Canterbury District Committee.

The horses (owned /by Nausbaum, o-: those' in which he lias an interest, wore also disqualified. Nigger Boy and Sleeveless are two very prominent horses horses affected by the decision.

Full evidence on the charge of corrupt practice was heard by the Committee, of which Mr D. E. Wnnklyn was appointed Chairman. The other members of the Committee wore Messrs A. S. Elwortliy, G. Fulton, G. R. MacDonald, R. M. Morten, E. B. Newton, G, H. Grigg, H. D. Greenwood, and R. G. G. Westernra. Both Nausbaum, who appeared personally, and Mr C. F. HaiTland, the Stipendiary Steward who laid the charge, were represented by counsel, as was one' of the witnesses, who was subpoenaed by Mr Ha r Hand. Mr A. T. Donnelly represented Hartland.' Mr C. S. Thomas appeared for Nausbaum. Mr R>. Twynoham watched the - interests of 'the witness. By consent ot the Committee, appearance of counsel was permitted.

By the unanimous decision of the Committee, Nausbauan was first found guilty of the charge of corrupt practice, under Rule ' 338, ’ Paragraph IA. in that on November 16, 1040, the 'fourth day of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s metropolitan meeting, at Riccarton racecourse, he did corruptly, directly or indirectly, offer a sum of money to P. S.pratt, a rider having charge of, or acecsfe to a liorse, Don’t Forget. A second resolution, unanimously made, was that Nausbaum be disqualified for life.
