tP6r Piiess Association-—Copyright). / December 9. The following Now Zealand air casualty was announced to-night: Sergeant C. H. Bain, R.N.Z.A.F. —killed iiT a flying accident. His mother is Airs Bain, of Claudelands, Hamilton. INVERCARGILL, Dec. 9. Official advice was received to-day of tiie (leatli in an aircraft accident in Britain of Sergeant-Pilot J. B. 1 Courtis, son of Mr A. H. Courtis, of i Invercargill. Tho advice, was contained in a cablegram from. the | Records Department of the Royal Air Force, which stated Sergeant-Pilot Courtis, was flyiing 'a plane which crashed on hills during bad weather. Sergeant-Pilot Courtis .received his preliminary flying training with the Southland Aero Club, and transferred from tire reserve of pilots to the Royal New Zealand Air Force shortly after the outbreak of tlie war. He passed through Levin and Taieri Training Schools, and gained his wings at Wigram.
