The Hokitika Club was successful in retaining the Reynold Badges in a match against Greymouth, on Saturday. Results of the games were as follows:—• . COMMENTS BY “CRITIC.”

C. J. King is to he congratulated for the excellent green on Saturday. He has put in a lot of work since last season and there is no doubt the Hokitika green is one of the best on the coast at present. To show' their appreciation the members recently presented him with a ease of Loewe pipes. Should the weather be fine during the week, it is expected that a large number of club matches wifi be played. Skips iu the pairs competitions are o ’ arrange their games and should do so early. , Many “narrow” bowls were played on Saturday owing to the. green being faster than usual. If you are narrow j wit h several howls take more green than you consider you need. To save wear at the ends of the o-reon leads should remember the rule about laying the mat.
