OBITUARY

The death of an old settler took place at Grcymouth on Saturday evening in the person of Air David Larkin, of Kotomanu. Deceased was born in County Kerry, Eire, 87 years ago, and arrived 'in New Zealand 59 years ago. For the ; past 45 years he lias been engaged in farming in the Rotamanu district, where his genial personality and high sense of honour made him extremely popular in a large circle of friends, flo had suffered only a short illnessi Predeceased by his wife six years ago the late Air Larkin leaves three sons, David (Blenheim;, William (Rotomanu), .and Michael (Poerua), also four daughters, Alesdames D. Myers (Hawera), J. 01 an coy (Gladstone Siding), W. Aleatos (Greymouth), and J Feary (Ruatapu). The death occurred early yesterday morning at the Grey River Hospital of Air Thomas Janies Wilton, a former police constable of Kumara. Deceased was born in Liverpool 72 years ago and arrived in New Zealand when 19 years old. He joined the police 43 years ago, and was stationed at Pahiatua, Taihape, Port Almriri and Waipawa, prior to coming to Kumara where he completed his service with the force in 1933. He has since resided at Kumara. He was a member of the Kumara Alasonio Lodge, and a past grand steward of the N.Z. Grand Lodge. Deceased was a Justice of the Peace and an authority on history. He took a keen interest in music and was a member of a number of musical societies in different parts of the Dominion. He is survived by his wife, one daughter (Airs R. West, Kumara), and one son Pte, G. Wilton, Pnpakura Alilitary Camp). The funeral took place this afternoon to (the Greymouth Cemetery.
