PRISONERS SENTENCED

CHRISTCHURCH, December 7. Nine prisoners, appeared for sentence before Mr Justice Northeroft, in the Supreme Court, yesterday. Daniel John Fergusson was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour for burglary. For .indecent assault on |a, male, Albert James Holland was sentenced to reformative detention for two years. Mr Justice Northeroft said that the offence, against a child, was abominable, but he would also allow for the report that the accused was subnormal. Also charged with indecent assault on a male. Frederick Bowles was sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for three months. Sydney Thomas Brown was sentenced to two years’ detention in a Borstal institution on three charges of breaking and entering (a warehouse, a shop, and a counting-house) with intent to commit theft. For making a false declaration under the Marriage Act. William George Guy was ordered to come up for sentence if called on within 12 months. For breaking and entering and committing theft, three young men were sentenced to two years’ detention in a Borstal institution and a fourth was placed on probation tor two years.
