FRENCH WARSHIPS
IN THE ATLANTIC. (United Press AssociatipD Per Electric Telegraph Copy light)., GIBRALTAR, September 13, British naval authorities at Gibraltar confirm that the French cruisers Gloire, confirm that the French cruisers Gloire, Montcalf, and Georges Leygues and the. destroyers'TAudacieux, Lemail, and Le Fantasque. passed into the Atlantic from the east. Their destination lias not been disclosed, but it is believed that they arO rallying to General de Gaulle. OBJECT OF MOVE. VICHY, September 14. The French Navy Minister, Admiral Darlan, announced that the warships Afontcalm, Georges Leygues and Gloire, and also three destroyers, have arrived at Dakar from Toulon. This has completed the first major French naval movement since the Armistice 4 It is believed that the ships have been sent to Dakar to protect the trades routes with Dakar, Casablanca, and other ports where there are much, needed foodstuffs awaiting shipment to France.
