ESCAPE ANY INJURY.

(Received this day at 11.1*5 a.m.) RUGBY, September 13. The Air Ministry of Home Security in a communique states that enemy aircraft to-day deliberately bombed a number of conspicuous buildings in various parts of London, and it is feared a number of civilians were killed and injured, Buckingham Palace was attacked, several bombs falling within the precincts, one of which damaged the Palace Chapel. Their Majesties were in residence, but 'fortunately escaped injury. Three members of the Palace staff were injured. Incendiary bombs also fell in Downing Street, but did n 0 damage. The War Cabinet sent a telegram to Their Majesties congratulating them on their escape.

The King in reply said: “Like so many other people, the Queen and I Lave now had a personal experience of German barbarity, which only strengthens the resolution of all of us to fight to a final victory.”

High explosive bombs and incendiary bombs were dropped .over a wide area. A mental hospital was hit. Some houses ' were destroyed by bombs in two hours in Lancashire on Thursday night. In each place little damage was done. Few casualties resulted elsewhere. REGENT STREET DAMAGE. LONDON, Sep. 13. A delayed action bomb extensively damaged the fronts of three shops in Regent Street, London, on Thursday evening. The windows of buildings on both sides of Regent Street were blown put and a Piccadilly Hotel was also slightly damaged.
