ANTI-SEMITISM

ATTACK BY JUSTICE O’REGAN. (Per Press Association-Copyright). AUCKLAND, September 12. A strong attack on anti-Semitism was made to-day by Mr Justice O’Regan in an address on the Study ot History at the Catholic Men’s Lun cheon Club. He said he must refer to the anti-Semitism which characterised modern dictatorships, and had sympathisers elsewhere. Catholic citizens did not need to be told that the Holy Father, the. Twelve Apostles, and the great majority of early Christians belonged to the Hebrew race. “The great St. Paul, the Apostle of the Gentiles, was a patriotic Hebrew,’’ the speaker said, "and often preached in the synagogues. Jn The Catholic Church, there is no room for racialism or colour bar. The Gospel message is meant for every creature, and so one nice is as good as another. In tins attitude we cannot do better than adopt the lead given recently by our Holy Father, the Pope. His Holiness appointed a commission of scientific men to inquire into the age of the earth. One of them was a Hebiew. That was the Pope’s reply to the anti-Semitism of Hitler and Mussolini, and members of the Catholic community could not do better than follow it.”
