The topdressing and. grass seed had.yet to be supplied. It was the' general opinion that the greater portion of .the grant must still be unused, and the"'secretary. . was irtstrueted to .communicate with the Departments concerned. , ■ The erection of the school . bicycle] shed was let to Mr A. King. The, Chairman advised that'Mr King had] offered his wages for this job, to thej schools “Ambulance; 1 Fund. Mr King’s offer was accepted with thariks. n j The 'cost of clearing the blackberry; and rubbish' off the grounds was/as-j sessed at 30/-. The elder boys ;hadj undertaken' this work for, the Ambu-j lance Fund.' * - • . t v BARROW DAY To supplement Funds for the schools! Ambulance Fund, • a “Barrow Day,”l was held on Saturday morning.- Mystery parcels of cooking, vegetables and sweets iwere disposed of in record time. The competition for the quarter-ton of coal was won by Mrs C. - Pfahlert and the-dressing table set donated by. Mrs Mitchell went to Mr J. Bristow, the funds were augmented by £l2/3/0 as a result of these efforts. The children are also' bringing in voluntary sirbsci'ipions, and /collecting bottles, and ’ it is expected that a sum, Several times their quota, will be collectvd.
