U.S.A. DEFENCES. (Received tliis day at 10.50 a.m.). WASHINGTON, July 11. Members of the House Military Committee, after surveying the north-east roast defences, recommended the United States to acquire and fortify air bases for the Fleet, in Nova Scotia and Bermuda. Mr Kooseve't’s Defence Commission has announced that contracts are being negotiated for the delivery of 115,000 aeroplanes, within two years. Since July Ist.. 100,000,000 dollars of orders had been placed. On the completion of the programme, the United States will hove 35,000 : planes.
