Mr Peake, in the House of Commons, announced . that Australia was willing to receive not only men internees, but women and children. Thus lie said, there was the possibility of the British authorities reuniting families aiid sending them to Australia. . .■ He added that Australia and Canada had given an assurance that they would treat these people with all possible hiimanity.' s During a debate on the matter, it was asserted that people who were useful to Britain in the war had been interned. - • . It was stated that the principal reason for the proposed transfer of internees was a desire on the par£ of the military to remove the aliens from the coastal areas that are likely to h° invaded. , '
