£350 RING PAWNED. MELBOURNE, May 15. Judge Richardson in the County Court to-day refused 'an application for trial by jury of an action concerning a £350 diamond solitaire ring. The ring, it was stated was originally owned by a former GovernorGeneral 'and Chief Justice of the Commonwealth v,Sir Isaac Isaccs). The application is the forerunijer of a case in which Mrs Edna Isaacs, Goodall Street, Hawthorn, sister-in-law of Sir Isaac Isaccs, and wife of John Alfred Isaacs, is the plaintiff. Pawned For £SO. She is suing the New South Wales Mont de Piete Deposit and Investment Co., Ltd., Little Collins Street, Melbourne, for the return of the ring, which she pawned for £SO. Alternatively, she claims damages. It was set out in a special defence, and particulars filed in court to-day, that Sir Isaac Isaacs’ parents had given him the ring in 1894 or 1895. Several demands for its return, the defence alleged, had been refused b,\ Mrs Isaacs. STAR WOUNDS. SYDNEY, May 15. Andrew Agnus, 30. a Maltese gardener, of Victoria Road, Smithfield, had 20 stitches inserted in four stab wounds yesterday, at Parramatta Hospital. Detective-Sergeant Flint and Detectives Cloke and Bateman were told tha: Agnus had been concerned in an argument over a poisoned dog. The police took possession of a small vegetable knife. Agrus was attended by Parramatta Ambulance for cuts to the head, lip, right shoulder, and right forearm. He lost a considerable quantity of blood, but his condition is not serious. Later at Parramatta police station, a man was charged with having maliciously wounded Agrus.
