.The annual meeting of the Hokitika. Old Girls.’ Basketball Club will be held in the State School cookery room at ,6.39 o’clock to-morrow night (Thursday).—Advt.
“I have no doubt that his offence is due, as so many of these offences that come before the Criminal, Court are due, to over-indulgence in drink,” said Mr Justice Fair in the Supreme Court at Auckland, when sentencing a man for theft. “At least half the criminal calendar, seems .to have sprung from the prisoners having taken too much drink before The' .offences were committed.”
