TRAINING
PROPOSALS FOR WELLINGTON. (Per Press Association —Copyright). WELLINGTON,/May 22. Officers and N.C.O.’s of the First Battalion of the Wellington Regiment are being called up from June first for one month’s training at the central military district school of instruction at Taiiherenikau, prior to the calling up of the men of the unit on July first, said Colonel Dow, officer commanding the central military district to-day, -in, a statement dealing with the arrangements in. his district for the home defence training scheme. The mpn will he trained during the day at various available grounds in Wellington arid will live at their homes. Training will carried on six days of each week for tljjee months, on much the same lines as that undertaken bv Expeditionary Force units, with rifle, light automatie, ( ayd machine gun courses at Trcnthain. The men will be medically , examined to the standard of home defence. . In regard to class two of the. National Reserve, a conference of area officers and representatives of the reserve organisation in Wellington will fie held, oil Monday and arrangements made for the ' immediate organisation necessary qf companies throughout the, district. Those attending the conference expressed the opinion that there, will be no difficulty in raising the number of men required. The men will also be required to pass medical examination .to home service requirements ans- be clothed and equipped as the territorials are.:
