communists attacked VIEWS OF MR F. W. SCHRAMM : AUCKLAND, May 18. An allegation that Mr F. -W. Schramm, M.P., was “in league -with Adam Hamilton” was indignantl.f denied by Mr Schramm at a meeting ■ he addressed at the Leys Institute He accused the intCrjector of being a Communist, and described Commun--1 ists as a menace to the peace of New Zealand. Mr Schramm was discussing a debate in the House of Representatives when an' interjector said: “You are in league with Adam Hamilton.” Mr Schramm: “I am a member of the Labour Party. If you' think I am in league with the' National' Party you should be in' an institution. A voice: Yes, you are. Mr Schramm: If are a Communist, and you 1 sound like one. f would sooner be fighting alongside Adam Hamilton than with th e Communist gang, anyhow. (Applause). “And 1 would like to say further, as far as the Communist crowd, is concerned, they are a menace to the peace of this country,” he continued. The Voice: You have talked yourself into a trap. Mr Schramm; I have not. I say that if members of the Communist Party, come along here to interject, it is only right ' and fair that they should get as good 1 a's they give. (Applause). “I will lie in favour of having locked up in camps every Nazi supporter and every Communist supporter who is a' menace.” said Mr F. W. Schramm, M.P.. amid prolonged applause. The! comment was made in reply to a' series of interjections. “If they are a menace to the' country; and to the ships on which! our bo.ys are travelling, I think j the Government should face the' situation and deal with it,” Mrs Schramm said. “I am in favour of that.” A Voice: Where they can do noharm. Mr Schramm: Exactly. '
