YACHT IN DANGER (Per Press Association —Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, May 20. During the height of the south-west gale yesterday afternoon, the 18-foot semi-cruising yacht Snark, owned by Mr F. J. Le Qucsne, Mount Pleasant, broke from its moorings at Rcdfi'iffs and was quickly blown seawards. Tlie sea had been flattened out considerably by the wind, hut nevertheless the Snark had to negotiate' a passage between’some fairly broken water on the Sumner bar. The drifting boat was noticed by Mr W. Webb, A redcliffs resident, who' immediately got in touch with the Sumner lifeboat authorities and at 4.30 p.m. the Sumner lifeboat Rescue II left in trying weather to pick up the Snark, wliicli by this time was only just visible, so quick’yi had she' been'blown out to sea. Tlie lifeboat succeeded in picking up the drifting yacht about six miles from the shore, arid towing it hack successfully to the Scarborough boat harbour, where it was securely' moored.
