John Ivatan, the American professional heavyweight wrestler, made his first appearance in iii Auckland to-night, when lie favourably ‘ impressed a fairly large croud' by defeating Dick Raines. also of America. Ivatan obtained the only ’fall of the match in the fifth round. KATAN TO MEET McCREADY. WELLINGTON, May 20. The British Empire championship for professional heavy-weight wrestling' will be contested in Wellington next Monday, when John Ivatan (Canada) will challenge the holder of the title, Earl AfeCroadv. The bout is likely to he a highlight of the 1940 wrestling season.
