CANNOT SUE

UNTIL WAR ENDS. SYDNEY, April 16. A German who sued a man yesterday was entitled t|o a verdict, but his right, to sue had to stand over until peac< was restored. Judge Shorthand said this in Parramatta District Court, i George Frederick Werner Kuehel, oi Martin Street, Haberheld, who run; Vernon’s Garden Service, sued J. H Dobson, of Lane Cove Road, Ryde, foi £lO2, the contract price of a stom pathway. Dobson admitted the debt, and pan £29-/8/- into court. He claimed that he had supplied the stone for the path and was entitled to the balance as a set-off against KuchePs claim. To Mr G. R-. Parker (for Dobson) Kuehel, who spoke good English, sak he was a German. Mr Parker: “Are you naturalised?’Kuehel: “No.” Mr Parker: “Were you interned at the outbreak of war, and afterwards released on license?”—“Yes, I have to report once a week to the police.” Judge Shorthand said that Kuehel was entitled to the money. “But I am unable to make any order on the disposal of the money paid into court. That must lie there until the. termination of' the war,” th© judge added.
