CALCUTTA; March 18.
Congress approved by a, large majoritj of the Patna resolution, rejecting Dominion, status, and demanding complete independence. Left-wingers urged immediate action, and Communists demanded civil disobedience, resistance to the war, and i total severance from Britain.; Mr Gandhi, technically a r.onmeniber of Congress, was subjected to some criticism because he diet fiot promote civil disobedience. Others, on the contrary, affirmed him as “India's man of destiny.”
Gandhi criticised the formation of different groups, within Congress which should not exist in a fighting organisation. He added the resolution strengthened his position as leader. He would not be stampeded into a struggle until his conditions were accepted.
