Left-wingers urged immediate action, and Communists demanded civil disobedience, resistance to the war, and i total severance from Britain.; Mr Gandhi, technically a r.onmeniber of Congress, was subjected to some criticism because he diet fiot promote civil disobedience. Others, on the contrary, affirmed him as “India's man of destiny.”
