ATTACK ON JAPANESE. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). TOKIO, August 27..‘ The Domei News Agency reports that two Russian divisions and three tank brigades crossed the Halha River on Thursday, and that thereafter heavy fighting occurred. The ■attack is believed to have been designed to prove Russia’s strength in the face of the new European situation.
The Russians manoeuvred to the Japanese flank, meeting- with a stubborn resistance.
The Japanese Army spokesman said that Japan was determirfed to give the enemy a fatal blow.
