NATIONAL CLUB

FORMED IN CANTERBURY. (Per Press Association—Copyright) CHRISTCHURCH, May 1. Mr S. G. Holland, M.P., addressed a. largely-attended meeting which formed a Canterbury National Club to-night. Mr Holland as an introduction to his review of the political situation said: Interest in public questions was never so intense in New Zealand. Political and economic wreckers are at their nefarious calling of smashing down the : present system, and organising a new instrument, which will bring about the destruction of those political wreckers in a very short time. The tragedy of what is happening to-day is that it was part of a carefully prepared plan to destroy economics built up by the finest standard of living ever experienced.

He contended that unemployment bad been made more attractive than productive employment. He expressed fears for financial security unless production and efficiency were increased. Mr Holland also attacked the import regulations.
