WESTLAND SUB-UNION MEETS. Mr S. Moore (chairman) presided at the weekly mooting of the Westland Rugby Sub-Union, whieh was held last evening.. Members present included: Messrs E. Shaw, A. Stevenson, S. Havill, B. Kelly, W. Kearns, O. I>. Harper, J. Richards, F. McGregor, M, Davidson and E. W. Heenan (secretary). The following fixtures were set down for Saturday :-rSenior, 2.45 p.m.—Excelsior v, Blaketown, No. 1 ground, Cass Square (Mr Algar). Kiwis v. Stars at- Greymouth. Junior, 2.30 p.m.—Kokatahi v. Kiwis at Kokatahi (C. Briggs). 2.30 p.m.—Pirates v. Ross at Woodstock (D. Head). 2.45 p.m.—Excelsiors v. Ruatapu, No. 2 ground, Cass Square (H. J. Seebpek). ; . Third Grade, 1.30 p.m.—Rovers v. Excelsior, Cass Square (Dr. Harrison).

1.30 p.m.—School v. Kiwi, Cass Square (J. Griffiths). It was decided that the third-grade fixture, Rovers v. Kiwis, which was played last Saturday at Woodstock he replayed owing to a School player having taken- the field for Kiwis. The Referees’ Association’s nominee to the Referees’ Appointment Board, Mr C, L. Harper, was approved.

The Union decided to purchase a blackboard for referees’ demonstration purposes.

The Ross Club notified they would be unable to field a team from May 13 to 27 owing to eight of their players having to attend a military camp during that period. The secretary was instructed to submit a report to the next meeting as to the extent other clubs were affected.by members having to attend the camp. The following players were regraded as juniors:—F. Mitchell (Ross), J. Bradley and K. Wallace (Excelsiors).The Union resolved that if the.play-,: er, L. Agnew, who was graded at last meeting as a junior was the Pirate senior player of last season he he notified that the application he refused and that the Union was unable to consider regrading, him. It was decided that all third-grade players be weighed at the pavilion next Saturday before the commencement of matches. Messrs Havill and Muirhead to be. in charge.- .

It was reported that the Arahura. Club had withdrawn from the junior competition. - It was resolved to ask the Borough Council for permission to turn the floodlights on facing the pavilion so. that teams could assemble on the grass off the field for scrummage practice. Senior club delegates A. Stevenson* TL Kelly and M„ Davidson and SubUnion representatives W. Kearns and S. Moore were appointed to travel to. Greymouth to attend the West Coasts Union meeting to urge the appoints meat of three selectors for the West Coast district instead of a sole selector. Mr B. Kelly was appointed Excelsior ] delegate on the Sub-Union in place of Mr F. Freitas.
