Ivan Morris Lancelot MciSaugliton was sentenced in the Magistrate’s Court to-day to 14' days’ imprisonment, tor being drunk while in charge iff a car. His license was cancelled, and lie was disqualified from holding another for a year.

Two other summary charges, of the theft of gelginite from the Mount Albert Blorough Council, and mischief by wilfully damaging a door lock belonging to the. Council, were also preferred. Martin pleaded guilty to all charges. On each of the summary charges, be was sentenced, to one (month’s imprisonment.

On a charge of unlawful conversion of a motor-truck valued at £2OO, Janies’ Alexander Wilson, alias Kennedy, a clerk, aged 20. was admitted hy Mr J. H. UNDER-AGE DRINKING

NEW PLYMOUTH, May 1

The determination of the police to stop the practice of youths under 21 years of age drinking in New Plymouth hotels was mentioned by a senior-ser-geant in the Magistrate’s Court this morning when Leonard Harvey, Frederick Crossan, and Gordon Mason were charged with entering a hotel and falsely representing that they were 21 years of age. All pleaded guilty and frankly admitted that they misled the barman concerning their ages. “T am glad of the assurance that you do not frequent bars regularly,” said the Magistrate. “T hope you never do.
