The airman, Edwards, was rescued by the Flying Doctor, Dr. Fenton, by whom he tras taken back to Darwin. Edwards said that the natives on, the island where he was found were hospitable. They! built him a rough, shelter, and provided him,with native food. Edwards said his plane is not damaged. His forced landing.was due to a bad storm and to shortage of fuel. U.S.A. BOMBERS FOR AUSTRALIA. AUCKLAND, May 1. Six members of the Royal' Australian Air Force are travelling to the United States in the Monterby to prepare themselves for the delivery this year of 50 Lockheed reconnaissance and bombing aeroplanes. They are Wing Commander E. C. Wackett (leader), Flying Officer Hachfath, Warrant Officers J. Campbell and W. J. Symons, Flight Sergeant F. Sellars, and Sergeant K. P. Connolly. The machines were ordered by the Comqionwealth Government recently for its defence expansion policy. The first lot will be delivered in the middle of, the year. 'The men will probably remain in the United States for two or three months, attached to factories to study the new machines.

Wing Commander Wackett, who is accompanied by his wife, will afterwards visit England concerning aircraft orders there.
