VALEDICTORY

On Saturday evening the Municipal Band tendered a . farewell to Bands-: man Alex Good, who is leaving the district after being a member of the band for 24 years. The. function was lipkl in the Fire Brigade rooms, Mrs C. B. Ross, and lady : friends having supplied a sumptuous spread. .

Mr A. PaHiiiilV occupied the chair, and after a lengthy toast .list had ,been honoured, the Chairman in proposing the toast, of' their guest,-referred ito the. lengthy service given to the band by Mr Good. Apart from being: a good player, he. had also occupied the position of secretary for. a long period.: He also referred to the splendid services the Good family had rendered to Hokitika, and’ wished him every success ip his'future.’ Mr W. E. Richards, in. presenting Mr Good with a well-filled wallet,''ex-' pressed his' regret at his having to leave the district. He considered lie would be a - great loss- to the -band. He had met many players.,. but lie- had never met one so versatile as Mi Good.
