(Received this day at 11.10, a.m.). • LONDON, April 30. "The Air Ministry is converting A 1 derney, in the Channel Islands into a second Gibraltar, in order to round'off Britain’s domination of the English Channel.
The Alderney State Council unanimously agreed to a plan under which the Government will take over a fifth of the island’s area;
Arrangements are completed to enlarge and improve the existing landing field and an extensive fortification „is being carried out, whereby the island will ’be rendered Impregnable, improvements may be made to the harbour which is capable of aecoriimodating warships.
A detachment of Royal Irish Fusiliers has been landed to guard the new works.'"'"’ '"' ‘ '
