Mr F. W. DatvSOrt, general manager of the Bank of New Zealand, who retires as from May 1, yesterday received a presentation from tile executive and staff. Mr H. R. H. Chalmers, who succeeds Mr Dawson presided. There were also present the managers of the Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin and Wellington branches, and some former officers. Mrs Dawson was/ also present. 1 Mr Chalmers said that Mr Dawson’s long service with the bank extended over 47 years, and lie Was the first New Zealand-born general manager.' He spoke of the esteem in which Mr Dawson was held, liis devotion to duty, his frankness and fearlessness, and his; Acute sehce of justice. He left the: bank with a higher . reputation than it had ever had during its career. . . '■''/•'Mr P. ' L.
