E. ,J. HOWARD’S FUNERAL. (Per Press Association.—Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, April 29. Six Alinisters of the Crown as well as Members of Parliament from al] over New Zealand marched in the procession which followed E. J. Howard, late Chairman of Committees and Alember of Parliament for Christchurch South to the grave to-day. Air Howard was accorded a civic funeral and the body lay in state at the Alunicipnl Chambers during the morning, when hundreds took the opportunity to pay their last respects. At a brief civic ceremony, the Mavor, Air R. AT. Maefarlane paid a tribute to Mr Howard. Later a service was conducted in the Alunieipal Chambers by Rev. Archer, AT.L.C. After the funeral left the City Hall, a long cortege was headed bv the Woolston Band., The service at the graveside included an address by Hon. D. G. Sullivan, who spoke in terms of great eulogy of Air Howard. Other AL'nisters present were Hons. Fraser, Webb, Armstrong, Semple and Lee Alartin.
