PORTSMOUTH WIN TROPHY. (United Press Association—By Elect fir Telegraph—Copyright;. LONDON, April 29. The King and Queen drove to Wembley’ for the English Association Football Cup final. The Foreign Secretary (Viscount Halifax) also attended and there were many distinguished spectators among the crowd of 100,000. The result was a victory for Portsmouth, who beat Wolverhampton Wanderers by 4 goals to 1. The Queen presented the cup to the winners and medals to both teams.
Portsmouth outclassed the favoured Wolverhampton team in all departments, and always looked winners. Portsmouth were three goals up before Wolverhampton scored. Portsmouth’s first goal was scored by Barlow, who was transferred from Wolverhampton in February for a fee of £SOOO.
