OLYMPIC GAMES
COST OF SENDING TEAM
WELLINGTON, April 27
The team which will represent New Zealand at the Olympic Games at. Helsinki, Finland, next year will be a small one, and, will compose only competitors who are considered io be in the top world class. Recommendations to this end from the council were adopted at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire (dames Association to-night.
In moving the. adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, Mr H. McCormick, chairman, said that the most important event of the last year was' the sending of a New Zealand team to the Empire Games at Sydney. New Zealand had sent a very large team in the hope that other nations would be represented by small teams. The New Zealand team had met with a fair measure of success. ■ <
Mr McCormick said it would cost about £3OO a man to send the New Zealand team to the Olympic- Games
next year, and the council had considered it advisable to send only competitors who were in the highest class.
