CHRISTCHURCH, April 27

Except for fat cattle, which were easier, Addington market was firmer to-day. Store Sheep.—The entry was the smallest one of the season, being 5000 I head. The quality was poor. There was a small entry of lambs, these selling from 5s 7d to 11s 9d, and ewe lambs sold to 11s 4d. Passings were numerous. The adult sheep entry was mixed. An attractive line of 170 four, six and eight tooth wethers from the C'hathams sold at 21s 3d. Romney cross six and eight tooth ewes sold to lbs 3d. ' Local two tooth half bred ewes sold to 18s. Sound mouth ewes ranged from 4s to Bs. Passings were numerous. Fat lambs.—The entry was 1100The quality was poor. There was a keen demand for quality, this class being a half penny per lb. above the schedule. There was a steady sale of export sorts at 7d per lb. Fat Sheep.—The entry numbered 4000. The quality was mixed. There was a keen sale for prime wethers and ewes. The sale opened firm, and as the sale progressed the values firmed, Wethers being up by Is 6d a head on last week, and ewes up to Is a head. Lighter sorts were m slack Remand.

Fat Cattle.—The entry was 573 head. The quality was poor, the greatest bulk comprising half finished steers. The small proportion of prime medium cattle sold at from 35s to 37s per 100 lbs. Heavy steers were down by 15s a' head, and unfinished steers by 20s a head, and cows by about 15s. Sales were hard to make over the concluding stages. Extra prime heavy steers sold at £ls 2s 6d, prime heavy steers £l3 5s to £l4 ss, prime medium weight steers £ll 15s to £l3 15s, ordinary steel’s £8 10s to £ll, light steers to £B. Extra pr>me heifers fetched £l2 2s 6d, prime heifers £9 to £lO, medium heifers £6 5s to £8 ss, light heifers to £6. Extra prime cows sold at £lO 12s 6d, prime cows £7 to £B, medium cows £4 15s to £6 10s, light cows to £4 10s. Veal.—There was a large entry. The sale was on a par with last week. Best runners sold to £7 8s 6d. Store Cattle.—There was a good entry, including 112 head of St. James Station Black Polled cross and straight Herefords. They ranged from 18 months to two years, and sold under brisk competition, the steers to £5 11s and heifers to £5 3s. The tone of the market was generally better. Fat Pigs.—There was a small entry of pork at the commencement, values advancing by 2s tp 3s a head on last week’s rates, ana they continued so until the last hvo races, when values eased, the selling being on a par with last sale. Baconers were forward in medium supply and showed little variation. Light porkers feached 39s 6d to 45s 6d, medium porkers 46s 6d to /51s 6d, and heavy pork 53s 6d to 57s 6d, the price per lb. being 6£d to 71d. Light baconers sold from 54s 6d to £3 Is 6d, medium bacon £3 4s 6d to £3 9s 6d, heavy bacon £3 10s 6d to £4 9s 6d, the price per lb. being 6Jd to 6|d. Store Pigs.—There was a medium entry. All classes went on a par with last week, excepting large stores, these being from Is 6d to 3s up. Weauers fetched 4s to 10s, slips 14s to 18s, and stores 13s to 345.
