MOTORIST’S FORTUNATE ESCAPE -

: ' c STRATFORD, April 27. Caught between two motor-cars in the main street of Stratford, in such a., mariner. that .one. vehicle, had to be lifted before he could be moved, Mr E. 0. Woolliams, assistant county cleric at Stratford, had a fortunate escape ,from serious injury. : Mr Woolliams, 1 who is a resident of Hawera, and president of the Athletic Rugby Football Club, had stopped his car and was standing alongside preparatory to walking to the bank with .the aid of his’crutches, when the other car . struck him and the door simultaneously. < . ; . . ’ A mudguard of the moving car broke ! the hinges of Mr Woolliams* car .door and* became jammed on the mudguard .of-, the stationary car. -i Mr Woolliams 'was thrown to the ground and pinned between the front wheels of the two . vehicles f the outside one of Which had to bo lifted by; onlookers before he could move.' $ Mr Woolliams’;-only in jury,; beyond ; a general shaking, was an abrasion on the’left leg.
