A new connection hy telephone line between Haast and Jackson. Bay is in course of construction. This ..will be a boon to the workers at the Bay. At the ( 'same time should the V line, north of the Haast.be out of action, the Haast-Okuru section being jn telephone communication , with Jackson Bay will have the, radio service there at its disposal, in case of emergency. Later on, the telephone from Haast will be linked up with the Otago system, via Haast rPass. The tele-V phone system on the other side is already at the at the ..Pass Camp on the new road.
