The efforts of Sir- Truhy King have had their effect-, and resulted in the formation of an institution, which has become world famed, for the assistance it givys to the mother, both before and her baby is born ana until of school age, through the medium of specially trained nurses. At the moment when domestic help is difficult to obtain, these nurses in many centres are filling an important part in the life of the home, taking charge of children and so giving much relief to the mother for household duties. The work of the Plunket Society is now a well established service, and recognising the .good work in hand and the desire of the Society to enlarge that service as far as the funds are available, it, is hardly necessary to do more than commend their work to our renders, whose financial assistance to the •funds of the Society would be gratefully received. The convenience of the local rest room is much appreciated, especially by country visitors, and it is being made use of by increasing numbers as the days go by. The Society is one that deserves every assistance and residents, town [and country are invited to contribute their mite, be it large or small, and so enable the good'work to carry on and launch out further, in a progressive and useful manner. •'
