TOURING BRITISH TEAM

DEFEAT CAPETOWN UNIVERSITY

CAPETOWN, September 17

The British Rugby football team defeated the Western Province Universities’ team by 19 points to 16, after leading at half-time by six points to three.

Twelve thousand witnessed the game in stifling heat. The visitors were lethargic. The Universities won the. earlier serums. MeKibben kicked a penalty goal for Britain from forty yards out. The Springbok, Wahl, after missing thrpe penalty kicks, equalised from half-way. MeKibben put the visitors ahead with another-penalty goal, -. The 'team then "attacked strongly",MeKibben converting/talker’s try, repeating this performance later, when Walker scored again. Wahl added another penalty goal; Then he converted two tries scored by Dewet and Wells, but the home team’s unexpected improvement came too late. Despite their levelling the score at 16/16, MeKibben won the game for Britain with another penalty goal.
