KING—DOWELL. V The marriage at .Holy! Trinity Church Greymouth, on Saturday of the captain of the 1937 All Black team and a member of,the 1935 and 1938 touring teams to England and Australia created considerable interest. The parties were Pearl second daughtex of Mr and Mrs D; R. Dowell of the Albion Hotel, Greymouth, and formerly of Hokitika, and Ronald Russell second son of. Mr and Mrs A. J. The bride wore silver shoes, 'and carried a shower bouquet of cream hyacinths, freesia s and cyclamen.

In attendance'on the bride were her ' sister, Mrs Jean Ogilvie, a s matron ot honour, and two bridesmaids,- Misses Louis Freebury 6f Oamaru (cousin of the bride) and Peg. Gillooly of Christ- ; church. They were gowned alike in frocks .of cyclamen l -taffettas having full-length swirling-skirts’ ’ forming slight trains at the hack'. The best man was Mr W. Diedrjchs of Kokatahi (cousin-of. the bride), and the groomsmen were Messrs. Fiord W West (Hokitika) and -Maurice- Connol- - j ly (Greymouth), Messrs R. Robert! and C. Briggs of Hokitika 7were.the ushers 5 . After the ceremony,, the bride’s parents entertained over'two/hundred guests at Herb;; Moore’s Cabaret; Ven. . Archdeacpn.Jermyn presiding at the re-ception.-Mrs Dowell,received'her -guests wearing -kVfrock with black satin'skirt and blue-; angelskin lace blouse. Her coatee wa s .of black.lacquered material and she wore a black brimmed hat/ with floral crown, and, black shoes. She car- \ riod a nosy of azure blue hyacinths. Mrs King, mother of,, the' bridegroom, chose a navy ensemble ,\vith hat. gloves ana shoes to tone, the hat being, relieved with a spray of lemon flowers. -Her posv was composed of freesias and cream spring flowers. O’BrieriM.P., •- and Mrs O’Brien, Mr Codrio-Pike/pf Sydney (Australian ’ Manager- of the 1938 All Blacks): Mr Alex. McDonald (co-Manager of the 1938 team to Ausr tralia), and the following All/Blacks: Messrs C. Ouaid. J; .Taylor, Neville Mitchell, (Dunedin)/0., Saxton.-. Les. George (Invercargill), -. Alan Wright, (Wellington), T. 0/ Morrison (Timai-u), and J. McKenzie /Palmerston North). . When Mr and Mrs R. R. King left: later on a honeymoon toijr of the S utli . Island by motor, the bride was attifed in a navv georgette frock with bolero jacket having a gold flofal top. Thursday evening, guests at the Albion Hotel, presented the bride'.and ‘ bridegroom with a handsome Westminster chiming clock, whilst the West Coast Rugby Union presented Mr King with a crystal decanter and glasses, the president ,(Mr A. A. Adams), and Secretary (Mr 0. McLean) conveying the good wishes of members of the Union.
