Tlie proposed tour of New Zealand by the Canadian Empire Games swimming team will not eventuate, according to advice received by the Secretary or the New Zealand Swimming Council, Baxter O’Neill, from the manager ot the Dominion Games swimming team (E. 0. Isacs). However, the disappointment at the non-appearance o-E tho Canadians will he tempered by Mr Isacs’ advice that Norman Wainwright, the British 440 yards representative and the outstanding competitor at the Sydney Gaines, will tour the Dominion iri April. Mr Wainwright who registered fast times over all distances from sprints to a mile intends to make a business trip to New Zealand and is prepared to appear for nothing at carnivals at Auckland, Rotorua, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill, the only expenses facing the centres will be the ordinary carnival expenses. Mr Tsacs also informed O’Neill that he is in negotiations to secure a visit to New Zealand by Walter Spence for coaming demonstrations this season if possible. Spence who is the British Guinea representative at the Empire Games has also appeared at Olympic Games. He is a noted coach, hut also lias a fine reputation ns a versatile competitor, for he can hold his own in the best company,, not only in freestyle but in backstioke and breaststroke events too.

Final advice that three New Zealand women Games representatives are available for an educational tour of the Dominion has also been received from Mr Isacs. Those are Mona Leydon (440vds), Jovce MacDonald (backstroke) and Gwen Rix (diver).
